The National Education Association awarded their 2019 Social Justice Activist of the Year award to Winter Marshall-Allen. Marshall-Allen is an intensive needs teacher at Homer High School. She was presented the award during NEA’s Conference on Racial and Social Justice. Marshall-Allen is back from Houston where she attended the conference and then served as one of five representatives from the Kenai Peninsula for the NEA Representative Assembly. She sat down with KBBI’s Kathleen Gustafson to talk about her work on accessibility, inclusivity and meeting the cultural needs of local students.
