Afternoon power outage affects about 3,400 people

Homer Electric Association

Roughly 3,400 people on the southern Kenai Peninsula and Nikiski went without power for a short period of time this afternoon. Homer Electric Association spokesperson Bruce Shelley says the power went out at around 3:45 p.m. and was restored about 20 minutes later.  Shelly says there were issues within the electrical grid, but the specific cause of the outage is not known.
