Joins us for an informative evening with Dr. Ross Tanner, founder of the Diabetes and Lipid Clinic of Alaska to learn all about diabetes. Dr. Tanner is the founder of the Diabetes and Lipid Clinic of Alaska, and specializes in several areas!
As a Diabetologist, he treats patients with diabetes and the management of the chronic condition, as a Clinical Lipidologist, he treats patients with complex choloresterol problems. Dr Tanner became the first board-certified Lipidologist in the state of Alaska in 2005. Dr. Tanner also works locally right here in SPH Specialty Clinic at 4201 Bartlett Street in Homer!

Diabetes is a health conidtion that increase the likelihood of heart disease and stroke. Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to significant disability. On average, people with diabetes have health care costs that are more that two times higher that those without diabetes. Prediabetes is a health condition involving blood sugar levels that are higher thatn normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. Come lean about this important health topic from an expert!

April’s Yoga classes will be led by Rachael Mannix Schmoker. She was born and raised in Fairbanks, is a Holistic Health, Ayurvedic, and Reiki Practitioner, Health Coach, an Experienced RYT-200 Yoga Instructor and Yoga Alliance Contributing Education Provider.

Rachael teaches yoga at Dharmic Spruce and the Hot Yoga Yurt weekly. Her classes are informed through a somatic and therapeutic context, highlighting body awareness to find the right movements for each person. Classes emphasize using breath as the key to strength and restoration.

Each week classes are informed by you! As you recognize what you need - energy or rest, and specific areas to target in the body - back, hips, chest, etc. Rachael will design classes based off who is in the room for a Somatically Aligned hour of movement!
