2024 Mary Epperson Folk Music Camp
July 15th – 19th 10am -4pmOpen to ages 8-17
The emphasis of Mary Epperson Music Camp is to have fun playing music!
Each student will select their classes from a list of options. We will do our best to place students in requested classes as well as an ensemble group of 4-7 students.
Each day will consist of a whole group gathering, 3 separate 45-minute class blocks, the ensemble rehearsal, and a group close-out.
On Friday, student ensembles will perform from 3-4 for each other and invited guests!
To register, complete the ticket purchase and fill out the camp registration packet by July 7th.
Join Rich Chiappone and Justin Herrmann for a three-part CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP of flash personal essays about The Animals We Know at Kachemak Bay Campus. In this three-session workshop, we will be refining flash writing techniques about our pets, our chickens, our work animals, the animals we first saw when we were young children, and animals in storybooks we've never seen but love just the same. Join us Friday, April 26, beginning at noon, when Professor Debbie Tobin’s Conservation Ecology undergraduate students will give 10-15 minute oral presentations on their scientific research this semester, and offer posters highlighting field study and survey trips across the Peninsula. This is an opportunity for students to field questions about their work, and for the public to learn about trends in conservation ecology in our local area. Calling all boaters! Join the US Coast Guard and Kenai Peninsula College for a free Maritime Safety and Education Open House on May 1st from 2 to 6 pm at Kachemak Bay Campus! Ask questions of local Coast Guard Marine Safety Representatives, explore hands-on exhibits by local experts, learn about licensing and reporting requirements, and how to get training to stay safe on the water whether you are new to boating, a commercial boater, or a recreational boater. That's May 1st, 2 to 6 pm at the Kachemak Bay Campus. Don't miss the boat!
HoWL DiRtBaG Clean-Up Week is an annual litter pick-up for youth and families. Monday-Friday, HoWL crews will be dispatched to clean up Homer's roadways, forests, and beaches. On Saturday, we will pick up trash at Bishop's beach, and celebrate everyone's hard work. Youth who participate can earn scholarships for HoWL wilderness programs, engage in community service, and win DiRtBaG awards. The HoWL DiRtBaG event also supports HoWL's need-based scholarship program, which helps provide expedition opportunities for all youth excited to HoWL!
