Man arrested for serious rollover accident

Alaska State Troopers

Alaska State Troopers arrested the driver of a truck that was involved in a serious rollover accident in Anchor Point on Thursday. Twenty-five-year-old Ryan Cotney of Anchorage was allegedly speeding excessively around a curve near mile 155 of Sterling Highway with two passengers in the vehicle, according to a trooper dispatch.

Police say Cotney lost control of the vehicle, which rolled several times after entering the ditch. Authorities say neither Cotney or the passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and that one passenger was ejected from the truck. Both passengers, who were not named, were transported to South Peninsula Hospital with serious injuries. Cotney was remanded to the Homer Jail on assault, DUI, and MVC-injury.
