Nine candidates have signed up to be on the ballot for the upcoming Homer Electric Association Board of Directors election.

This year, candidates for the open board seat in District 1, which includes Kenai, Nikiski and parts of Soldotna, are Dan Chay of Kenai, Dan Hammond of Nikiski and Glenese Pettey of Kenai. In District 2, covering Sterling, Soldotna and Kasilof, the candidates are Barbara Blakeley of Sterling, Jackie Ray Morrell of Soldotna, Ed Oberts of Soldotna and Mike Swan of Soldotna.

In District 3 on the southern peninsula, incumbent Bill Fry of Homer and Kris Lethin of Seldovia will be on the ballot.

The deadline to file for a seat on the board was Friday. HEA directors are elected by the members in their respective district, with members voting only for the candidates in their district. The ballots will be mailed to Homer Electric members on April 1st. Completed mail-in ballots must be received by April 30th. Members will also have an opportunity to vote at the HEA annual meeting which will be held May 1st at Kenai Central High School.
