A revised draft of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act reauthorization legislation is available for public comment.
Magnuson-Stevens is the federal law that governs the management of marine fisheries in United States waters.
Its core tenant is sustainable conservation through management. It was originally passed in 1976 and was re-evaluated by Congress in 2006.
Recently, the House Committee on Natural Resources put forward a bill to amend and reauthorize the act.
