Nickolas Phillips' Death Appears To Be 'Self-Inflicted,' Police Say
Aaron Selbig

A Homer man was discovered dead last week, an apparent victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Homer Police say that the body of 20-year-old Nickolas Phillips was found shortly after 9 a.m. Friday morning, inside a vehicle parked at a scenic pullout on Skyline Drive in Homer.

In a news release, police said Phillips’ death appears to be self-inflicted and foul play is not suspected.

After receiving a phone tip from a witness who saw the vehicle with blood on the passenger side windows, police discovered Phillips’ body, which they say could have been there as early as Thursday evening. His body has been sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Anchorage for an autopsy.
