Homer Library Earns 'Star Library' Designation

Staff Report

The Homer Public Library is one of five Alaska libraries to have been designated a “Star Library” by the industry periodical, Library Journal. The journal honored libraries in Homer, Unalaska, Haines, Seward and Petersburg for their service to the public, along with 257 other libraries across the country.

The criteria for the award included circulation per capita, library visits, program attendance and public Internet usage.

State Librarian Linda Thibodeau said the results show that Alaska residents use and value their local public libraries.
