Construction Continues for Natural Gas Infrastructure

Ariel Van Cleave

Construction crews are making progress on the natural gas trunk line and distribution systems for Homer and Kachemak City.

According to Enstar Natural Gas Company, work is still underway along the Old Sterling Highway and Fairview Avenue. Crews are fusing pipe and boring along both roads. Another crew will move to Dibble Creek later this week.

Workers laying the distribution system pipe in Homer will be in the Forest Glen area as well as out to Hillside and Jennifer Place this week. Another crew will be in the Cityview area and along Wattle Street, Crittenden and Hidden Way. Work will begin this week to install a distribution main along Sterling Highway beginning at West Hill Road and working toward town.

Distribution mains and service lines are expected to start going into the ground in Kachemak City later this week. There will be crews on the north side of East End Road near Seaview and Morningstar.
