2024 Mary Epperson Folk Music Camp
July 15th – 19th 10am -4pmOpen to ages 8-17
The emphasis of Mary Epperson Music Camp is to have fun playing music!
Each student will select their classes from a list of options. We will do our best to place students in requested classes as well as an ensemble group of 4-7 students.
Each day will consist of a whole group gathering, 3 separate 45-minute class blocks, the ensemble rehearsal, and a group close-out.
On Friday, student ensembles will perform from 3-4 for each other and invited guests!
To register, complete the ticket purchase and fill out the camp registration packet by July 7th.
Join Rich Chiappone and Justin Herrmann for a three-part CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP of flash personal essays about The Animals We Know at Kachemak Bay Campus. In this three-session workshop, we will be refining flash writing techniques about our pets, our chickens, our work animals, the animals we first saw when we were young children, and animals in storybooks we've never seen but love just the same. Join us Friday, April 26, beginning at noon, when Professor Debbie Tobin’s Conservation Ecology undergraduate students will give 10-15 minute oral presentations on their scientific research this semester, and offer posters highlighting field study and survey trips across the Peninsula. This is an opportunity for students to field questions about their work, and for the public to learn about trends in conservation ecology in our local area. Applications are open for the Ron Senungetuk Summer Youth Arts Scholarship through April 27th!
Homer-area students currently enrolled in grades 6 through 11 are invited to apply for summer arts scholarships. Students must currently attend school in the Homer area and plan to return to school in the Homer area for the 2023-24 school year. Complete applications and supporting materials are due to Homer Council on the Arts no later than 5:00pm on Saturday, April 27th.

We are so excited to have Maria SantaLucia back at the SPARC, teaching a beginner Zumba class on a NEW DAY, Monday's from 1:45-2:45pm. This class is available for adults & high schoolers (14+) for $6 ($3 for SPARC & $3 for Instructor).
Have fun dancing to a variety of music with strong Latin influences. This is a BASIC BEGINNER level class, great for seniors, and anyone wanting to enjoy movement with a low impact emphasis. This class is 45-60 minutes of movement that will be strengthen the cardiovascular system and help with muscles and mood.

There are two workshops happening Saturday, May 4th from 2-5 pm and Sunday, May 5th from 1-4pm in the HCOA Basement
All materials will be provided and you will walk out with your own handcrafted enamel earrings!
Open to participants age 16+
No experience needed. All skill levels welcome.

HCOA presents the Darjeeling Tea Party.
Learn about the origins of Darjeeling and the differences in flavor and color different harvesting seasons bring, while tasting two different flushes of Darjeeling.
Tea will be accompanied by savory and sweet treats, and a dessert silent auction.
