E. During the last 12 months, the station employment unit engaged in the following initiatives (provide full details, including an explanation if no instructions were conducted during the period involved):

1. During this reporting period KBBI staff conducted individual training classes for on-air volunteers.  Two trainees went on to host live, on-air radio programs.  They were trained in on-air technique, FCC rules, station policy and EAS procedure.  Training required self-motivated practice, an accepted demo tape following station format, observing two live music programs, and two afternoon programs with staff available.

2. General Manager David Anderson attended a Foraker Group leadership training, “Catalyst for Excellence” April-June 2011. News personnel attended Journalism Week in Anchorage in March. Development Director Josh Tobin attended the Alaska Development Training in Anchorage during September. He gave a well-received presentation on KBBI’s OneDay membership drive.

3.  Staff gave a station tour to a local elementary school class and a group of foreign exchange students. The students were from Kenya, Egypt and Indonesia. Following the tour of the facility the students received a demonstration on the operation and use of the audio console, microphones and audio sources. ID’s were recorded by the foreign students for on-air use.
